The Société Internationale de Diachronie du Français will be holding its second conference at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge, 6-8 January 2014. The theme of this year's conference is:

L'HISTOIRE DU FRANÇAIS: NOUVELLES APPROCHES, NOUVEAUX TERRAINS, NOUVEAUX TRAITEMENTS

Details of the conference and the programme can be found on the conference website:

http://www.sidf.group.cam.ac.uk/colloque_cambridge.html

The call for papers privileged three questions of theory and/or methodology which are of vital concern whatever framework or period one is interested in:

  • Sources which have been unused or little used by historians of the French language.
  • The reconstruction of the spoken French of the past.
  • The rhythm of linguistic change. What are the advantages of studying long or short diachronies?

Colleagues are very welcome to attend any of the sessions. Please register on the conference website by 1 December 2013 if you wish to do so.
