Thursday, 21 May 2026, 13:00–17:30

Lecture Theatre 2, Computer Laboratory (Cambridge)

As Large Language Models are increasingly adopted in language assessment, urgent questions arise around their reliability, fairness, transparency, and impact on diverse language users. This symposium brings together leading researchers from language assessment, applied linguistics, psychometrics, and the assessment industry to examine the risks and opportunities of human-AI collaboration in this space.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Dr. Chanjin Zheng (East China Normal University) — Resilient System Design Approach to AI-driven Assessment and Learning Systems

  • Dr. Sha Liu (British Council) — What Are We Assessing When AI Plays Multiple Roles in the Loop?

  • A third speaker will be announced shortly

The programme also features a moderated panel discussion on the future of AI in assessment with the above speakers, an extended open discussion, and a poster session with networking over coffee.
