Management Committee

The centre is governed by a Management Committee chaired by the Cambridge Language Sciences co-Directors. The Management Committee provides input to major projects, assists the Directors with decision-making and champions CLS across the University and beyond. It has representatives from across the University of Cambridge including Cambridge University Press and Assessment.

Centre activities are overseen by Jane Walsh (IRC Manager) and Jane Durkin (Communications Manager). Executive Director, Dr Guy Emerson, also leads in the development of new large-scale interdisciplinary proposals on behalf of the centre.

External Advisory Board

The External Advisory Board is appointed by the Management Committee and drawn from external research institutions or non-academic bodies. It meets once a year. The Board provides expert and strategic advice to the Co-Directors and Management Committee.

The internal advisory group are critical friends within the University with in-depth knowledge of Cambridge Language Sciences who are consulted on an ad hoc basis.

What we do

Cambridge Language Sciences is an Interdisciplinary Research Centre at the University of Cambridge. Our virtual network connects researchers from five schools across the university as well as other world-leading research institutions. Our aim is to strengthen research collaborations and knowledge transfer across disciplines in order to address large-scale multi-disciplinary research challenges relating to language research.
