Lois Parri

Lois is a doctoral researcher in the Brain, Language and Bilingualism Lab (BLaB) at the Department of Psychology at the University of Cambridge, funded by the Cambridge Doctoral Training Partnership of the ESRC. Her research examines the internal and environmental factors that influence individual differences in second-language learning during adolescence. Working with adolescents, she aims to develop a personalisable digital tool to support individualised second language acquisition.

Lois completed a BSc and MSc in Clinical and Health Psychology at Prifysgol Bangor, where she developed a strong foundation in psychological research. During her studies, she worked as a Research Assistant and Peer Mentor.

She then joined the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London, where she spent 3.5 years contributing to multidisciplinary digital mental health projects, gaining experience in mixed-methods research, ethics, data management, participant coordination, and recruitment. In addition to her main roles at KCL, she served as technical lead for the CIRCuiTS cognitive remediation therapy platform and supported Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) activities for the Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre. She remains a member of the Service User Research Enterprise, contributing to lived-experience research and helping deliver a PPIE module for undergraduate psychology students.

Alongside her academic work, Lois has worked as a freelance research consultant on projects spanning minority language communities, mental health advocacy, and linguistic validation, collaborating with academic, government, and industry partners.

These experiences reflect her interdisciplinary approach and commitment to bridging research, practice, and lived experience, with the broader aim of making research accessible and meaningful in real life.
