Biography

Dr. Chenyi Zhang is the Research Laboratory Manager at the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics at the University of Cambridge. With a PhD in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics from the University of Cambridge, she is passionate about exploring the intersections of language and cognition.

Chenyi’s PhD research focused on psycholinguistic processing of text and picture integration and how individual differences such as working memory capacity, exposure to comics, language background including writing system and bilingualism affects this process. She used a combination of behavioural and ERP experiments. She has presented her findings at numerous international conferences including AAAL 2024 and AILA 2024, and her research articles are currently under review with various journals.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Chenyi enjoys cooking, baking and traveling in her free time. Chenyi is always open to collaboration and can be reached at cz344@cam.ac.uk.

Research

Chenyi is interested in all aspects of psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics. She is also interested in tones and intonation in Chinese dialects, as well as language assessment and education.
